OUR PROFILE
The 4k Water Association is a self help water project initiated in early eighties by local communities to alleviate the water shortages in the area. Initially, the local communities had started four small water supply projects, each covering one of the four sub- locations within the area. Incidentally the names of the water supply projects were all starting with letter ‘k’ as indicated below:
- KABURI water project in Iriga sub- location
- KAATHI water project in Igamurathi sub- location
- KARIETHERA water project for Chamunga sub- location
- KANDUNGU water project for Kandungu sub- location
It was during the initial stages back in 1982 that key personalities from the 4 small water projects were brought together by the then Snr. Chief Protasio Mutegi in an endeavor to almagate the projects and form a singular unit to better serve the water demands of the Muthambi people. These first meetings were co-ordinated by the then M.P Dr. JJ Kanyama.
